There are some islands near Salvador, very beautiful. Don’t miss them.

Could you name some of the islands? Which in particular is most beautiful? How long a drive/boat ride are they from the center of the city?
I have also heard that the music scene is Salvador is great- any recommendations on where to find the musicians playing?
I am sorry that I’m asking so many questions all at once. I am just overly eager to get started with my trip!

I heard there are many beautiful islands out there. I Don’t know which one is the best, but the one I have been is pretty, whose name might be Tinhare(can’t remember clearly). From around downtown Salvador, take about 20 minutes’ drive to a ferry. The ferry takes about an hour and then you drive another hour to a dock. Take a boat for about 40 minutes then you’ll make it. Pretty far, huh? But it’s worth it. In that island, there’s a hill called Morro de Sao Paulo. And there are beautiful cozy beaches. At night a lot of people gather on the beaches, drinking and dancing, very nice.
About the music, I went to Salvador during Carnival, so there were bands playing at historical center. Don’t know if they always play there.
Have a nice trip.

the old city, pelourinho, is great. really interesting. i think every tuesday night is a big live music party there. much fun.
didn’t make it to any of the islands.
be prepared for some agressive begging. don’t accept their “friendship bracelets” unless you plan on giving money. and try not to make eye contact. but it’s more an inconvenience than anything dangerous.
have fun!
