but I’ve never managed to get outside of the London / Cambridge area in my trips so far… so the next one has to include Wales and especially
Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch
here at http://www.43places.com/places/view/261262
where my Mother earned pocket change pronouncing the name of the town to tourists taking the train through to the tourist sites…

North Wales is slightly more “authentic” and has more people who still speak the Welsh language but the whole of it is beautiful. I have very nice memories of Llandudno for instance. The only problem out there is that the names of places are impossible to pronounce so it makes asking for directions difficult :-)
My mother lives here and I can not pronounce it whatsoever!

Indeed: from what I know, ‘w’ is a vowel in Welsh and ‘ll’ is a nightmare to pronounce as it’s like the soft German ‘ch’ (as in ich, as opposed to the hard one as in Bach) followed by an ‘l’. A 4 letter tongue twister: only Welsh can manage that :-)
