Excellent place to visit, nice and friendly people. The dollar goes a long way which is sad in a way. We travelled to Los Roques which is off the tourist beaten track and absolutely beautiful. Caracas was very nice. I heard too many negative things about Caracas, but it was very nice to be there. Just make sure you have your wits about you and you can speak a bit of spanish. People are very friendly and helpful.

Venezuela is not the “socialist” dictatorship that the imperial cronies make it out to be. People are happy despite poverty. I saw more Wendy’s and Burger kings and McDonalds in Venezuela than i was expecting. The media feeds a lot of crap to the North American public. Seemed to me that Venezulanos are willing to participate in a capitalist society, but on their own terms.

Excellent place to visit. I got a copy of the new Ven. constitution which many street vendors sell on the street. Poor people especially love Chavez. But generally its better to NOT discuss politics with new acquaintances.
