Avila
Great old city within the walls. Easy to get to by train and a good place to stop off between Madrid and Salamanca.
The Cathedral was really worth seeing if you like architecture.

It was nice to attend Sunday mass there. Only problem was the other tourists who came to take pictures during mass. It is still a working building.

Agreed! I am not the most religious person in the world, but sacred places must be shown respect.
Tourists were taking pictures during mass? Ugh. That is so crass.
