My father moved to Cayo Carenero about five years ago, this Christmas my husband and I had the opportunity to visit. The Bocas Archipelago is unique, especially for the adventerous. It is affordable, the food is fantastic, it offers: beaches; surfing; superb snorkeling ranging from coral gardens to rays to tropical fish and turtles; parrots; sloths; cacao plantations. If you go you must eat at the Sunset Grill on Cayo Carenero (Careening Cay)- outstanding world cuisine, and at Om on Isla Colon an Indian restaurant that welcomes you with “There is no place like Om”. Make sure that you snorkle or dive off of Hospital Point. Take a water taxi to Bastimentos and treat yourself to a meal at Roots. Find a way to Dolphin Bay. Swim with the horseshoe rays off of Isla Drago. And do not miss Wizard’s Beach on the Carribean side of Bastimentos.
