The other "army" of Xi'An by Ninja Neko

We’d been in Xi’An for 2 days and had seen the famous Terracotta Army. But our guide talked us into (actually, he practically insisted) stopping at another tomb en route to the airport. After the Terracotta Army you don’t expect to be impressed anymore, but this museum is actually very cool and has a better infrastructure than the famous Terracotta one. (airconditioning was big plus as well)

Emperor Jingdi had figures burried with him too – but these are very different from the Terracotta Army. They’re a lot smaller. They’re not just soldiers, but replications of entire villages, including lifestock. And, really cool, since the emperor’s hobby was paleontology, he had dinosaur skeletons burried with him as well so he could continue his hobby after his dead.

The pits have a glass ceiling so you can walk on them and see the details up close. Plus there was a really cute & fun theater in the museum too.

We could see why the guide was urging us to visit: Definitely recommended!
