GENERALINFORMATION

This area was occupied by Quimbaya Community during the time before The European occupation. The natives were defeated and exterminated by the Spanish conquerors, commanded by Marshal Jorge Robledo. The department was created in 1966, and is integrated by 14 municipalities.

LOCATION: : Department settled at the west-central region of the country, between 4º39´ and 5º32´ of North Latitude, and 75º23 and 76º18´ of west longitude from Greenwich.

POPULATION About 950.000 Inhabitants
