Toledo is a pretty cool place for tourism.

Costa Del Sol! definitely! The enitre eastern/southern coast is so amazing. Granada, Malaga, Alicante, Nerja are all so breathtaking and they are smaller so there aren’t as many tourists….except for maybe Granada- the Alhambra and General Life attract a lot of people. Have fun and don’t forget your sunscreen.

L’Alhambra (in Granada) at sunset—great idea!! It is so beautiful and would be very romantic.

Coroba would be nice, quiet place to stop, and then you could head onto Sevilla for some partying like Ben said!

It also depends a lot on when you’re going too, what sort of honeymoon you want to have, and what part of Spain you’ll be in.

Barcelona is awesome too!

Barcelona is beautiful. If you like art, they have a wonderful Dali museum just outside of the city and many other museums in the city. Parque Gaudi is a romantic and beautiful place to visit. The architecture is amazing. There are a lot of other buildings that were designed by Gaudi in the city, but the best one by far is the Sagrada Family (Holy Family).

I am biased toward Madrid because I lived there, but I hear from a lot of people who have traveled to Spain that they like Barcelona better. In Madrid you should see El Parque Retiro (beautiful HUGE park with a pond, vendors on some weekends). The Royal Palace is a great stop to make. You should definitely see the city center, Sol, and enjoy lunch and a glass of Sangria in La Plaza Mayor (in Sol). There is a fantastic Irish Pub (generally inhabited by a lot of English speakers) called Biddie Mulligan’s. You take the Metro exit called Tribunal. It is at 92 Calle Hortaleza (C/ Hortaleza, 92). My favorite restaurant in Madrid is called La Burbuja que Rie (the laughing bubble). It is traditional Asturian food and they have fantastic traditional Asturian cider (cidra). The address is Ángel, 16, Madrid, 28005 Spain and their number is +34 91 366 5167.

Beware that the food service in Spain is not the same as ours. Their customs are very different and they think that if a waiter visits a table too often, they will bother the patrons. Many Americans are disappointed by service in Spain, but I would attribute it to major cultural differences.

I am not sure of your travel experience, but keep an eye on any baggage or purses that you carry. Pick pockets are everywhere. Also be aware of where you are going at night. I was mugged while I was there and it wasn’t the best experience, but I was also alone and it was very late, so I could have prevented the whole situation.

Have fun!

I’d have to agree with the majority and say Costa del Sol… absolutely gorgeous, plenty to do and see!

Barcelona for vibrant city life and Granada for Moorish architecture.

even spain is one of my favorite countries to visit, i would personlly choose Portugal for my honeymoon. it’s cheaper, less crowded, and more compact. their posadas (hotels converted from historical buildings) are great

It’s been said already, but I’d definitely cast my vote for Barcelona. The Museo del Prado in Madrid would also make a fantastic day trip.

I visited a nice little town called Altea. If you want some peace and quite try that one out. For sightseeing Barcelona’s pretty good

I haven’t seen much of Spain (spent most of my time there on a boat), but I loved Madrid (I stayed right on the Plaza del Sol), and Alicante and Malaga (possibly Malaga the most).

All depend of what are you looking to do while in there if you want culture you need to go to Barcelona y Madrid. If you want to Party well go to Sevilla & Costa del Sol. Granada, Malaga, Alicante, Nerja are all so breathtaking and they are smaller so there aren’t as many tourists…and those are excellent place to relax and just have romantics time.

I’ve only been to BArcelona, so I would steer you there…but there are lovely places along the Costa del Sol that you should definitely head out to as well.

BTW: Congratulations!

NorthEastern Spain… Nevarra- fly into Pamplona. Then check out the Valley of Bazatlan (not sure if that’s spelled right) and Elizondo- it’s a wonderful, quiet, untouristy town that’s magnificant.

I agree with both Costa Del Sol and Barcelona!

I am partial to Barcelona since I use to live there.

You can’t go wrong anywhere in Spain, they have incredible beaches.

But if you want beaches that are untouched by tourist, go check out the South in Murcia, there they have hot springs all year round…

I love Spain!

Barcelona is a magnificent city brimming with art and culture.

You can also make quick trips to the small towns nearby: Reus for History, and Salou for the beach.

As I’m Spanish I see you can take a tourist “fiesta!!!” tour or a cultural tour.
If you want a “fiesta” tour with plenty of funny things to do, typical clichés but almost nothing of real Spanish culture or art, visit the Costa del Sol (Sun Coast), you’ll find great hotels, millions of discos and lots of funny things to do in your spare time.
The second tour includes of course the indescriptible and beautiful Granada (you must purchase your tickets for the Alhambra anticipately), the Museums of Madrid and the cosmopolitan Barcelona.

Anyway I hope you’ll enjoy your visit and want to come back to see much more ;).

We had our honeymoon there several years ago. It was the perfect place! We spent a couple of days in Malaga, took the train to Ronda for a few days (you MUST visit Ronda), then back to Malaga for the rest of the week. We went between Christmas and New Year’s Day; lots of things closed down then, but the weather was pleasantly cool and either sunny or misty.

Check out the “Hello Spain” guide by Margo Classe. It will direct you to lots of cheap and charming hotels. We went with no reservations, just this book; and we had absolutely no problem finding the best spots. If you’d like recommendations, let me know & I’ll try to find the hotel names.

Felicidades!

Last answers are the fanciest..
There was a town among that uncovered castillan central plateau.. Cuenca is a fabulous unknown place which motto is ‘Cultura y Naturaleza’ : an old white-stoned-walls city is hanged on a rocky peak surrounded by wild slopes, two rivers and hills around.
My emotions remembered recommend deeply a romantic stay there..
