You’re too late tho – i just read that the keys to the base were handed over to the Germans today. I lived on Rhein Main AFB over 30 years ago when my dad was stationed there. I lived there 4 years, so it was a big part of my life. It’s a little sad to hear that the buildings will be bulldozed over – part of me would love to go back & visit the 3rd floor apartment we lived in – sigh – memories!

Rhein Main

I lived there from 69 to 71 – Gateway Gardens. Some of us Air Force Brats still get together. It’s the end of an era to have it close down. www.rheinmainbrats.com

RMAFB...RIP. It will be missed.

If you have access to Google Earth, go to Rhein-Main’s location and you can see some of Gateway Gardens has already been demolished. The specific coordinates of my old home are 50 degrees, 1’41 north; 8 degrees, 35’15 east.

Man, do I miss Germany…sigh
