Absolutely beautiful city.
One of those cities though, that often gets lost in people’s Europe itineraries.
Cottonball is right – all shops are closed Sundays except restaurants and cafes. There is a lot of concrete in the inner city – of course – but Stadtpark is absolutely gorgeous, relaxing, perfect place to sit on the grass in summer and read a book, and you wouldn’t know you were in the inner city.
The people do keep to themselves, and don’t expect overly friendly customer service. In fact, once you get used to their rude way of treating their customers, it almost becomes a part of Vienna’s charm.
Find Blutgasse and around that area, get a guidebook (or a Viennese citizen who knows some history!) and read the stories behind the streets – they take on a whole new atmosphere when you know the little stories.
Viel Spass XD
