Arne

(in Syria)
My Syrian ancestors are from Arne  — 2 years ago

My great grandfather emigrated from Arne, Syria in the early 20th century. He worked as a peddler for many years in the U.S., then went back to the old country to get his wife and kids in 1910. My grandmother Helen Markos Buschmann was born in La Crosse, Wisconsin two years later.

Not to mention our shared pre-Adamite ancestry, bro

This entry of yours prompts me to ponder my eight great-grandparents and to realize how little I know about them. I don’t even know the names of two of them. All but one were born in the U.S., six were Southerners, probably born to Southerners. (I was born in and grew up in North Louisiana, but had progenitors from Alabama and the Carolinas. Oh, and this or that Yankee along the way.) Anyway, thanks for giving me the occasion to think of them. Do you have any wish to visit Syria? (or Wisconsin?)
