Worth visiting!

Untitled

I was just at Pike Place Market on Friday (January 30). A couple days before a coworker sent me a link to this story about the 40th anniversary of The Beatles’ last public live performance. That last concert was an impromptu rooftop performance in London to get footage for their film “Let It Be.”

A local Beatles cover band, Creme Tangerine, planned a recreation of the rooftop concert for noon on the anniversary here in Seattle. The location? On the rooftop of the Copacabana Restaurant right here in Pike Place Market. Ken Mansfield, who was the U.S. manager of The Beatles’ Apple Records and who was in attendance at the original performance attended this one as well. Of course I had to go!

Creme Tangerine did a great job recreating the concert, down to the same set list plus more. The concert lasted a little over an hour. It was cold out there, but people didn’t seem to mind. The music was amazing. I got some video which I haven’t yet had a chance to download. But I found this TV video from King5 online.

I feel fortunate to work just a few blocks from Pike Place Market so I can attend events like this when they come up!

I heard about this

How cool that you were able to attend. I’ll have to check out the video.

I certainly miss working downtown for just this reason. I was just a few blocks from the Market when I worked there and it was great. I may look for a job downtown again someday. Whenever I make it downtown this is a stop for me.

It was really fun

I too love having the Market just a few blocks from my work. It’s fun to mingle with the tourists and a great place to pick up some lunch.
