El Camino Inca by Dom Reid

One of the most magical moments of my life was when I awoke on the inca trail, having camped on a bit of bogland that was the only flat place to pitch a tent at that point of the trail. When we went to bed it was misty and dark so we didn’t know where we were camping, but the next morning a view so fresh and vast of mountains shrouded in little fingers of cloud. We were on top of the world. well, at least that little bit of it. We arrived at Machu Picchu in the morning before the tourist train arrived. We walked through the gateway of the sun, appropriately as the sun rose, to see that mystery of Inca vision below us. I have walked the Inca Trail twice now and will do so again, and hopefully again after that. It is one of those journeys where you can ask yourself questions as you begin, and by the end they should be answered, because nothing can remain unsaid in such magesty.
