Worth visiting!

A Favorite Place to Stop

Pentagon City is a large mall located right on the Metro line in Arlington.

I frequently stop here to eat, as there is a fairly large food court, with a good variety of places to eat. When in the DC area, I frequently stay in the Crystal City area. Pentagon City is right on my way into downtown when I’m heading in after work to take pictures, or just hang out.

I know that there are a multitude of better, more exciting places to eat in Georgetown, Alexandria, and other places nearby. I just happen to go to Pentagon City a lot because it’s fast, convenient, and relatively inexpensive.

There are also a number of shops where it’s easy to pick up a few souvenirs from the District. Ah, that reminds me, I bought a new tie while I was there. :-)

What a nice mall! The malls in Seattle are not nearly so nice.

Guy stuff

I went to the dentist on Monday afternoon and got a root canal. Actually I got two of them on the same tooth. I have to go back after the first of the year to have a new permanent crown put on. It just doesn’t get any better than that.

I’m still taking pain medication and antibiotics. The pain is getting less frequent and less severe, so I think that I’m winning the battle. I just hope that the pain is finished before all of the pain pills.

As far as malls go, this one is very pleasing aesthetically. Remember, as a guy, I don’t really give two hoots about malls. It just so happens that this one is on the way to where I want to go, and it has food.

The other thing about this mall, while I was taking pictures, one of the mall employees came up to me and told me that I’m not allowed to take pictures in there. I have no idea why they would have such a policy.

Interesting...

that you aren’t supposed to take pictures there. Maybe it has something to do with having “Pentagon” in the name. (Just kidding!)

Many years ago I had the experience of riding on a military airplane. My Dad (who was retired military) was very sick and needed heart bypass surgery. Back then they weren’t doing those surgeries at Madigan (our local Army medical center) so they had to fly him to the Army hospital in Aurora, CO. I went along as his family escort. I was young and of course thought it was pretty cool to get to ride on a military plane. So of course I decided to take a picture of the plane. Apparently that was a big no no. But the officer nearest me let me sneak in a quick photo when the higher ups weren’t looking.

Top Secret Stuff I'm Sure

There must be all kinds of hush-hush stuff there in the mall. It really surprised me that they threw such a fit about it.

Most malls don’t really care about pictures being taken. Even so, I would imagine that there are a large number of pictures taken in there with cell phone cameras all of the time.

How is your tooth?

I hope your mouth is pain free these days. Pain is no fun, especially during the holidays. I also found that even though the dentist told me my pain would be gone the next day after the root canal it really took about a week or so before I felt comfortable enough to say that the problem was “fixed.”

One more time to go back

It took a few days, but the pain has subsided. Next week though I get to go backk in and have a new crown put on. That might cause some pain for a few days while it gets seated properly.

And it might not...

Good luck with your crown appointment. Sounds like you’ve been through the ringer with this tooth, but try not to anticipate pain that might not come. Think positive. My experience has been that new crowns may be a little uncomfortable at first but usually nothing that rises to the definition of “pain.” Hopefully you will have a smooth experience and you can put all this behind you.
