The day I hiked Pacaya there was a huge thunderstorm. I was slightly terrified to be hiking in the middle of an electrical storm. Obviously, I survived. It’s a really nice hike…and I’m sure the rain made it even more fun. If you are in Guate City or Antigua, do not miss out on the opportunity to climb this active volcano. At the little stand at the beginning of the hike, be sure to buy some marshmellows (unless your guide is bringing some) so you can toast them on the lava. AWESOME!!!!!! Even though it is touristic, DON’T MISS OUT ON THIS EXPERIENCE!
