Worth visiting!

Connecting flight

I only had 47 minutes between flights but they were (luckily) in the same concourse. There was not even time to check e-mail. The guy behind me boarding was reaming out his travel planner for not giving him (yet again – it sounded) enough time between flights.

There was enough time to have an “exception” from the PB&J counter – a sandwich on cinnamon raisin bread with chunky PB, honey and bacon. I only ate half and I still feel kind of sick.

Did you say...

PB, honey, and bacon? Chunky PB, on raisin bread, with honey, and bacon???

I have been quoted as saying that I have yet to encounter a part of a pig that doesn’t taste good, so I’m a bacon lover, but I must admit. That’s a new one on me.

Was it the sandwich, or something else that got you sick?

Chunky PB, honey & warm bacon on cinnamon raisin bread

I have had pb & bacon before (love the sweet with the salty), but they used too much peanut butter and the honey seemed superfluous.

The tastes were good together but it was a bit much. And I kind of wish it had been grilled.

It was the sandwich, R8. I should have stopped after eating the first quarter!

I must admit

I kind of enjoy a good salty-sweet snack too. I guess that PB & bacon had never crossed my mind.

If I ever see it I’ll have to give it a try.

I cheer that entry...

on the merits of the word “superfluous” alone, yet, as you’ve noticed; I’ve been rather efficient at cheering everything in MFM’s universe.

Mutual Admiration Society

You have been over-generous in your cheers AND in reading (and commenting on – which I really appreciate!) all my rantings.

I have been lurking on your comings and goings for ages!

The bacon kinda threw me as well ..

That sandwich seemed an embarrassment of riches even without the bacon. But then, I’m not that fond of bacon.

Funny

The bacon is what sold me on that sandwich! The salty scrunch balanced out what might have been too sweet, but on the whole it was over the top. I think I was still just regretting not having a peanut butter and banana sandwich at the lunch counter at Graceland in Elvis’ memory.

I hate it when that happens!

It seems like every time I deny myself something like that, I end up making a worse choice later as well. Like when I turn down that one piece of exquisite chocolate and it haunts my mind so I later consume a bag of Oreos or something equally pathetic. No wonder my thighs are out of control.

Too much denial is bad for you

I always figure a little bit of something exquisite is better than a whole lot of something mediocre.

At a spa once I heard a guy talk about healthy choices and he said (paraphrasing here) that if you want chocolate, forego anything that comes in a wrapper and buy 1 piece of beautiful, artisanal, handmade chocolate and light a candle while you savor it – make it an experience, not a drive by.

Now that I typed that I could go for a Take 5. Those rock!

Problem is...

I never have time to light a candle when I’m in devouring mode.
