Johnny Rockets

Not worth it!

First visit. Also, last.  — 3 years ago

Johnny Rockets is one of those 50’s themed burger joints with no attraction beyond proximity to the Apple Store. I’m assuming it’s part of a chain. But I had to withstand a two-hour wait to have an Apple “genius” agree that one of my RAM modules is shot, so I figured I’d grab a bite to eat at the closest restaurant.

Oops.

During the course of a half-hour visit, I ate one crappy hamburger and heard that 80’s song “Walking On Sunshine” four times.

Four times.

I haven’t been to the University Village restaurant, but I have been to the Johnny Rocket’s at Pacific Place, as well as the one in Fisherman’s Wharf in San Francisco. The food may not be best, but it’s certainly better than your typical fast food hamburger. And they have always played songs from the 50s.

Playing songs from the 80s is just wrong. You should give the restaurant another try at a different location.

I don’t even dislike that song particularly, I just couldn’t believe how many times it came on. And the fact that they were playing eighties songs with fifties sensibilities rather than, say, fifties songs with fifties sensibilities is one sign that I don’t really have to give them another try. Now, if they were playing fifties songs with eighties sensibilities, that would have been something.
