Worth visiting!

Did It On A Recommendation

As we drove into Taos I noticed a sign pointing to an old building off the main road which read Taos Pizza Outback. I just thought it to be a bit strange.

After we got to the hotel we talked to my daughter who was still at Philmont Scout Ranch (she visited Taos frequently) and asked for recommendations on where to eat dinner that night. The first thing she suggested was Taos Pizza Outback. She told us that it was great and gave us a few menu suggestions and explained the proper protocol to observe when visiting Taos Pizza Outback.

We arrived at Taos Pizza Outback and followed her suggestion. Even though it says to seat yourself, you need to go in and tell someone that you’re there (we sat outdoors) or it will be an hour or so before they figure it out.

The next thing was that you are supposed to pick up a crayon from the crayon holder on the table and start writing or drawing on the table, the walls, anything that you can. That’s the way they do it there.

We ordered our pizzas. You can get a whole pizza or by the slice, in any of there numerous combinations. The slices are HUGE, and the combinations are a little bit unusual compared to the fare at most pizza places. Their pizzas tended to have a lot of green chiles on them. I tried one of my daughter’s favorite combinations. It was pretty good.

I'm thinking that

if I had to draw what toppings I wanted on my pizza, I might end up with some very odd combinations :)

Love the crayon wall

Crayon Wall

That was interesting wasn’t it. The whole restaurant is like that. Pretty much every square inch of flat surface is covered with crayon. All of the walls, tables, seats, you name it.

It’s more of a hangout for the college-age crowd, but even as an old geezer I enjoyed the carefree bohemian atmosphere.
