Used to visit relatives in Naragansett Drive/Road off the Loundon Parkway. Wegmans, Giant and Asburn Plaza were the closest but needed to go 4 miles to the nearest one which was Giant.

Since then (this was in 2004) I heard that there was a gas station with a store which is open 24hours right near the end of the street and further down a full blown shopping center compleat with Safeway etc. Still my cousin informs me this is about 4.8 (I had him check tonight since his Mom needed some milk for the morning anyway) miles roundtrip.

Don’t get me wrong. Suburbia is wonderful for those who dig it as is urbania. I apologize if my comment in someway sounds judgemental. I was referring to my preference of not having to get into the car and drive any number of miles if all I want is a stick of gum. And admit it, Ashburn aint that. For that matter neither is Sterling or Countryside. I used to live in the villas at countryside. THere you could litterally get in to the shopping via the Regal end but then you’d have to go all around to reach Safeway. So you needed to go through Benton Court and walk a ways to get to 7-11.
