I was so young!
I was an exchange student here in high school so this was the first San Francisco I lived in. I really loved it and the people and the wonderful food. I drink maté to this day.

Maté is served in Chile as well...
A friend of mine who is Chilean made a gourd full which I sipped through a silver straw. I’ve been a fan of maté ever since~

The silver straw
yes, a good silver straw is important! some leak and you get a mouthfull of leaf. the straw is called a ‘bombilla’. at least it is in argentina. i look forward to sharing some maté with my future chilean friends on a trip that hopefully isn’t too far off in the future. :)
