Worth visiting!

The first time I went to this place

was to feed some of the many many pigeons there. I was terrified! Some people would pour bird seed into their hand and hold it out towards the frenzy of pigeons. As for me – I chucked it as far away from me as possible!

You’re surrounded here by some wonderful buildings – St. Martin’s in the Fields, the National Gallery and the National Portrait Gallery. And just a few minutes walk away you’ll be in the heart of Theatreland.

We were told by the hotel...

NOT TO FEED the pigeons since they carry fleas! We admired the art the the 4th plinth from afar! And watched other people feed them.

Agree

- it’s not a very hygienic activity!! I vaguely remember reading that feeding pigeons has now been banned in the square as of last year. I must have a look the next time I’m passing through that area.

Pigeons - Nice birds to avoid

My first time or two in a European square I thought that it was wonderful to have pigeons walking and flying all about me.

Then I found out about all of the nasty things that pigeons carry around with them, and also drop.

Pigeons and I now lead an uneasy coexistence.

Just watching

a pigeon for a few minutes and seeing what it will happily peck away at on the ground is enough to put you off going near them (shudder)
