Exploring my roots
Almost all of my family came from Friesland, but unfortunately I don’t know much about the culture or the language. I’d love to go explore, meet some cousins, and learn a little more about my heritage.

mine also ... not many of us Frisians left anymore
There are a lot of Samkes, Aggos, Deeterts, Ennos, Tietjes on my family tree …I suspect your lineage is similar.
We should be extremely proud of our ancestors and the Frisian republic, but it is unfortunate that most of us have never been told about it. For example, the “Lewer dod as slov” or “Better dead than a serf [or slave]” was the slogan of free and independent Frisian citizens for more than a thousand years.
