Worth visiting!

The first time I went to this place

in 1967 I was a 6th grade student attending Camp Waskowitz. I re-visited many times after getting my driver’s license in high school. When I-90 was revamped the parking area right above the falls was by-passed. Since parking along the Interstate wasn’t something I was comfortable with &not being familiar with the local area, I didn’t know how to find Twin Falls. Recently a friend mentioned growing up in the area &well the rest is history! We immediately planned a day hike for my newlywed cousin& her husband visiting Seattle on their honeymoon. My girlfriend & her husband acting as our guides! The hike is fun and the scenery is awesome. Don’t miss the old growth fir!
A bridge has been built that allows you to cross over the falls and hike up to join the John Wayne Trail(John Wayne Pioneer Trail).

Thanks for the tip

I don’t think I had heard about this park before. I added it to my list.

You won't be disappointed ,

my tip is to bring some water to keep hydrated. It’s about a 2.5 mile trek round trip to the falls. And the fresh air built our appetites for lunch~ good thing we packed a picnic in advance! We ate at Rattlesnake Lake, which is reached by exiting off the next freeway exit heading back towards Seattle.

That sounds great

Darn, I just remembered that I have to be careful choosing hiking outings. My husband is visually impaired and his vision is at the point now where he really doesn’t do well in a forest. He can’t see well enough to see tree roots and it stresses him out to walk on anything but the smoothest trails. I may have to go with a friend instead. Do you have to hike to get to the old growth fir too? It sounds like fun though. I love waterfalls.

I'm sorry that ...

your husband wouldn’t be able to make the trek.. but I’ve thought of something that you could both enjoy together and he wouldn’t have to worry about the tree roots! UPS’s Waterfall Park in Pioneer Square! While you’re there you might enjoy visiting the smallest National Park in the U.S. *The Klondike Museum *- 1 block away!
As for the Old Growth Fir, it would be a bit of a trek. The path is clear and somewhat wide, but steep in a couple of places.

Thanks!

I separately keep a nice long list of places that I would like to go – too many than would fit on my 43Places list. And those two were actually already on the list! But until you mentioned it it did not occur to me that they were close in proximity and could be done in one outing. I don’t know how soon we’ll get there but I think that’s something Walter would really enjoy. I’ve added both places to my list here.

Now my list is full so I’d better get busy going places! Actually, I’ve been to a couple of places on my list and I just won’t let myself check them off until I make the time to post entries and upload photos. That might be a good project for the weekend.

Thanks again for the suggestions!
