As a Malaysian, I guess it’s hard not to feel like I’m supposed to feel something negative or something overwhelmingly positive about Singapore. There are aspects that make me feel like I enjoy the roughness of my own country, which simultaneously make me feel that I wish my country were more like it.

If one doesn’t really know Singapore I guess it’s hard to make an unbiased observation, but I know that my youthful thoughts of it being a sterile, regulated place aren’t totally inaccurate, but as an older person visiting now, I see it quite differently.

A place that one should be, and most probably will find oneself, visiting.
