Worth visiting!

I went to Adams Morgan when I was briefly in DC in August, on the recommendation of an old DCer (DCite? what are they called anyway?) at work, thanks Watani! Wow. I only spent a few hours in the middle of the night scouting it out, but there were so many cool places and so much going on, I couldn’t believe it. It easily outclassed anything in Seattle.

The big combination coffee-shop-and-bar affair, stuffed with couches, big easy chairs, tables, etc. was completely packed with people talking, reading, hacking, lounging around, etc. at midnight on Saturday. Nothing close in Seattle, must be a liquor law thing. If not, we need one. And a variety of cool bars, went to one with a weird medical theme and wound up in a fascinating conversation about film projects and various things. Also spotted all kinds of places that were I a DCer would be right on my Secret Date Weapon list.

Unfortunately, a planning oversight placed this very cool city where it is a hundred degrees, and unspeakably humid, in the middle of the freaking night. Humans should not have to live in a place where, wearing a thin shirt in the middle of the night, sweat pours down their back. It is a violation of my human rights. As soon as they get that sorted out I’m moving there.
