This was one of my all-time great adventures – a month long trek around China in 1991. Just the best from Kunming in the west, through Xi’an and Beijing and Shanghai to the boat back to Hong Kong this was the ultimate. Best things – 51 hours on a train (we were the only westerners!), the boat back to HK (where we corrputed the DJ to play some hot western music!), Forbidden City, Terracotta warriors, Great Wall, Shanghai….man I could go for days about how great it was. The people were amazing & I could honestly say that we had no problems with the officials etc.
