Why I recommend this place to visitors

If you look at the photos of the church after the bombing raids, you can really grasp what a great reconstruction job they have made of the roof of the vestibule (which is the only part of the church that remains standing). Other parts of the vestibule still show huge gaping holes (covered with clear sheets of perspex).

The “new” church is right next door, and from the outside looks, frankly, horrible – a huge concrete block. But when you go inside, you realise that all the little tiny concrete squares are actually a huge grid of brilliantly blue stained glass. It’s such a shame that it doesn’t look as beautiful from the outside.
