You could try mx.yahoo.com and go to the travel section there … I personally always go to a travel agent and let them do all the work, I don’t know why people don’t avail of them more often, they can book very cheap stuff if you ask them to dig deeper. Good luck!

I did only at one place. But they are so busy(9 days to get back) and want us to pick a single package like 8 days at Cancun, etc.

The two airlines that are “major” which fly within Mexico are AeroMexico or Mexicana

In particular, I like, Mexico City Center, Bellas Artes, Zocalo Capitalino.
In Guadalajara the center too.
You can also go to Acapulco, Mazatlan, Cabo San Lucas, Monterrey, Manzanillo, Cancún (let´s see… not sure yet because of the hurricane) San Luis Potosi… etc… there’s a lot of great places to visit… Veracruz… If you would like to come with your family, maybe places like beaches, if you are between 20 to 28 maybe to the citys an also to know their night life, It’s great.

I’ve always driven everywhere in Mexico, and if you have the time, it really is a wonderful way to see the landscape and enjoy the country. AeroMexico is inexpensive, as is Mexicana. If you have serious doubts or other questions, you could always talk to a travel agent. Try emailing deborahATL@aol.com. She’s my travel agent.

If you want to get anywhere from Mexico City to the east side of the country, use ADO bus lines. They are very cheap and actually nicer than the greyhound busses we have in the states. You can even get a bus with bunk beds to sleep in for about 10 dollars more if you travel at night.

I did it by bus couple of times beetwenn Mexico City and Playa del Carmen… it’s a bout 23 hours and it can be a lot of fun… If you don’t have enought time just get a plane (Mexicana is a good company). If you need info about Yucatan let me kno. I have lived there for 4 years so I can give you some tip.
Hasta luego y buena suerte.

adestiny,
sorry i didn’t get back to u b4. i just replied to the e-mail, bad idea. this is the scoop:
Mex has several domestic airlines, Mexicana, Aeromexico are the main 2. Domestic airfare from the capital, DF to Cancún should be a bout USD$ 100 round trip. In Yucatan, get a car to move around at least 2 days to see Chichen Itzá, Tulum and Playa del Carmen. I’m in Mex right now, wouldn’t recommend a visit a the moment it’s pretty nasty after the storm that hit from what I see on local tv, although they’re cleaning up pretty quickly. Peace

I suggest calling the airlines directly—both from USA as well as from Mex (see if you can get s/o to do it for you there—hotel, perhaps?) There are usually good deals for all inclusive—flight and hotel…and then, the usual web sites. Do go to Mexicana, Aereomexico…and if you have miles with airlines, see if there are any “partner” alliances.

I grew up there, and go frequently. As much as I love Mexico, I would always err on the side of caution when it comes to safety. Traveling can be extremely dangerous, and yet, some of the newer highways (privately owned and administered) have become quite safe. It really depends on your comfort level.

I didn’t check out your gender, but if you’re a woman—don’t drive alone if you’re not native and/or fluent in Spanish. Do not drive at night, and if you get stopped by police or “federales”, be extremely cautious. Things are getting better, but crime, including kidnappings (particularly in Mexico City) is still very much a reality.

Bus is not a bad idea if you’re budget-conscious. Some of the highways will challenge your carsickness tolerance : 0 To the extent that you can, I would fly. If you take a taxi, particularly in Mexico City, do NOT take one from the street. Have a hotel call you one, or get the name of a taxi company and call one in.

Once in Yucatan peninsula, or other tourist hangouts, you’ll have tons of help, reliable (mostly)—remember it’s the #1 industry of most economies…

Be smart, play safe…and Enjoy the amazing country!!
