It is absolutely worth the trip, if you’re able. I’d agree that seeing them from both sides is a must. However, I’d recommend staying on the Canadian side, and only visiting the US side.

The US side gives you the ability to get mere feet away from the top of the Horseshoe Falls, which is both exhilarating and a little frightening. However, the town itself is very grungy, giving it a deserted feeling.

The Canadian side is very touristy, and very well kept-up, esp considering the sheer volume of tourists. And while the US side offers the ability to get right up against the edge of the Falls, – the Canadian side offers you a straight-on view which allows for the more picturesque views.
