Thiruvanmiyur is an area South of Adyar in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Once unknown, this area is now an upcoming destination with the Tidel Park being located nearby. The legendary Marundeeswarar Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva is located here. Thiruvanmiyur also houses the age-old Kalakshetra, famous world over for the preservation, teaching and development of Indian culture, tradition, dance and art forms.

The area is easily accesible by Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) buses and has a sprawling bus terminus. Bus Routes connecting Thiruvanmiyur and other places in Chennai are: 1, 1C, 1D, 6D, 22A, 29M, 41C, 47D, 147, M1, M49, M7, T51.

The main post office is located East on LB (Lattice Bridge) Road and around 100 meters before it meets Old Mahabalipuram Road. The two main theatres in the area are the Jayanthi and theTheyagaraja situated on the LB Road just north of the intersection with Tiruvalluar Salai.

just had to drop by when i saw the name! i drove past there on Saturday on my way to a beach house, and read the name out loud – all my friends laughed at how i said it! so now its kinda stuck in my head forever!
