As I said before, I’ve never really heard any specifically anti-turkish sentiments. And racism is, like any other kind of ignorance and injustice, generally frowned upon.
As there are very few Turks in Iceland there are no considerable clashes between Turks and the greater population such as may exist in other European countries, such as Germany and France for example, where some members of the large Turkish minorities have given Turks a bad name.
I looked into it a bit however and apparently some people have rambunctiously been spreading the rumor that “Turks can be rightly killed in Iceland” on account of The Turkish Abductions to shock their Turkish visitors, a claim probably made in the same spirit as those many Icelanders like to tell their foreign acquaintances such as that in Iceland people believe in elves and the old gods, eat rotten shark and live in Igloos..
But perhaps it is also a way for them to deal with and make fun of their own fears as well..
