I work here. by LavenderMenace

I work in Grand Central Terminal (“Terminal” is the correct phrase, not “Station”), and it’s a pretty incredible place. Well over 500,000 people pass through GCT every day. On weekdays of course it’s predominately commuters, a sea of suits and the cacophany of high heels clicking over the pink stone floors. On the weekends it’s a little quieter, and almost everyone is a tourist, usually from Europe or the midwest. Tourists tend to be much more polite than commuters, perhaps unsurprisingly. I spend a great deal of time every day giving directions, mostly to the bathroom. People come up with some interesting questions, and invent new names for famous New York landmarks. Such as, “Where is Broadway Street?” and “How do I get to Manhattan?” Oy.

Definitely a good place to visit. If you’re waiting for a train, the only place to sit down with all your many, many bags is the dining concourse, which is downstairs. All the other benches have been removed, I guess to deter the homeless. Food’s pretty good down there too, but expensive of course. Don’t eat from the Chinese place. Really.

Cheers.
