that;s what I discovered when I took a weekend break here over Easter. i never knew, and the fijian guy i’d gone with shook his head. silly brit. we went to the waterfalls which were beautiful. slid down the rock channels – scary. went to wairiki and waiyevo. watched many amazing sunrises and sunsets. ace*

Thanks for visiting catex, but the person who told you that was mistaken. Pineapples grow on on little bushes. :)
You can tour an operational pineapple farm in the north of Taveuni. Go to http://www.puretaveuni.com and look for “Vunivasa”... probably in the “Adventures” section. The page talks about their forest hike etc but they also have a massive pineapple plantation which they’ll happily show you.
