Worth visiting!

A review of this place: One of the few drive-ins left in America...

I hadn’t been to a drive-in since…well…since forever. I was just a kid when my parents took me to see Dumbo at a drive-in theater in Denver, Colorado.

The Galaxy is a great place to take the family for a night of movies and fun. The show starts at 8 p.m. – or a little later depending on the line of cars left to get in. Gates open at 6:30 and it’s a good idea to get there early…the line grows exponentially after that. There is a miniature golf course there to keep you entertained while you wait for your movie to start.

The Galaxy is open 7 days a week, 364 days a year. They close for Christmas. They do close for inclement weather. Rain doesn’t stop them, but dangerous wind and lightening do. All their lineups are double features.

The speakers aren’t the best, but they do broadcast the soundtrack and they’ll tell you what frequency to tune your radio in to.

We took our lawn chairs and kicked back. When it became too cold, we moved into the car and turned on the radio.

A great experience!! My kids were amazed!

Galaxy is great!

I was so excited to see this place as I was driving down I-45 on my way to Rice, TX. Of course, when I came back, it was night, so I tried to see what spot they were at in the movie! Not too good when you’re driving! My 18 year old son thought it was pretty cool, too!

Thanks for the entry,
Robin

We have one too

There is a drive-in theater a few miles from my home.

When they were very young it was fun to take the kids there. The only drawback with the drive-in was that it was always too cold to go, except in the summer. However in the summer it stayed light so long that the movie wouldn’t start until nearly 10:00 p.m. and then everybody started falling asleep before the movie ended. The second feature was a completely lost cause.

But drive-ins are a fun experience.
