the science museum in alb is really nice. there is a great town square with lots of shops to peek in. there is a brazilian tapas restaurant there that is incredible – kind of an all you can eat buffet is offered there. that’s pretty much all i’ve experienced there, but that can be a day.

sorry about that. you’ve probably got the right one and i had the wrong one. if u go, prepare for a lot of food, and if u can, go with a group of people. it’s a great restaurant. delicious food.

You should definitely go to Old Town. Take some time and walk around, have a meal of some sopapillas and something with green chili, maybe a chili relleno. Check out the shops and the hanging chili ristras. Make sure to go off the main streets and explore the little adobe alley-ways.

I’ll be sure to do that. Any street (names) your would recommend? Where would I find the hanging chili ristras?

chili ristras can be found hanging in front of businesses and homes all over the santa fe/albuquerque area. they are part of the santa fe style that gives the place it’s character. i don’t remember the names of any roads in the area, but just explore around the town square, and you’ll find lots to see and experience.

I always take ABQ first-timers to the Sandia Peak Tram. It’s pretty magnificient any time of the year and is a good way to kill a day: http://www.sandiapeak.com/index.php?page=tramway

The best bet to purchase ristras is in Old Town. Here’s the official map: http://www.albuquerqueoldtown.com/map.html

I’ve been told also that our zoo is quite good, so if you’re into animals, that may be a good bet. http://www.cabq.gov/biopark/zoo/index.html

We were there for a few hours and hung around by the university – a funky, vibrant area. Lots of good restaurants.

Enjoy!

Ah, and any which remain in your head that you would recommend?? Names??

University area is commonly refered to as “Nob Hill”. My favorites places: Hey Jhonny! (asian themed trinket store), Beeps (novelty shop), Zinc (good restaurant, need reservations), Shogun (sushi), O’Neills (Irish pub), Il Vicino (GOOD pizza & GOOD microbrews).
Kelly’s is a popular place (especially the patio when warm), but only because they’re cheap. Their food and microbrews are pretty lousy.
People really like Flying Star cafe, I think it’s too expensive. They have free wi-fi.

And of course right across from UNM you must hit the Frontier (http://www.43places.com/places/view/727798/frontier-restaurant-university-area-albuquerque) and try the breakfast burrito. The green chile will knock you out.
