You can take a cable car up to aout 2000m… which means in Autumn you get the red leaves down the bottom, and beautiful snow up the top. The onsen smell is pretty potent, but it’s great to thaw your tows in the ashi-yu, foot onsen. Definately one of my favourite places in Japan… the Japanese alps are amazing.
