Worth visiting!

The first time I went to this place

We saw the second piece of Contemporary art to ever adorn the Fourth Plinth. It was a riveting piece by Bill Woodrow “Regardless of History”

On our visit in 2007 Marc Quinn’s sculpture “Alison Lapper Pregnant” was the current commissioned piece on display. This woman is a model of Resilience &Hope!
There’s always a beautiful work of Contemporary art displayed atop the Fourth Plinth. It was often referred to as the”Empty Plinth” from 1841 to 1999. Since that time The Fourth Plinth Commissioning Group was formed and it’s “empty” only when changing out installations.

I remember

reading about this sculpture in the newspapers. It was very controversial at the time. I never really understood why. The model (Alison Lapper) is a woman who was born with no arms and extremely short legs. Yet she has a career as an artist and is also a mum.
