Question: Putting aside questions of age, sex, and talent,  — 11 months ago

What 3 (or fewer – but I could never cut it back so low) roles would you love to play? Why?

I appreciate your caveats

because my first response was going to point to my stunning lack of talent! However, since you took that small factor off the table, let me think…okay, I’ve got it…_Eliza Doolittle! Spunk and determination! Gotta love that. I used to have trouble with the fact that she ended up with Henry Higgans but I have come to understand it better over the years.

I may come up with more as I focus my attention on this topic.

So, what about you?

I have 2 roles

I’ve dreamed of playing since childhood.

Judas in Jesus Christ Superstar. Tragically, I’m not a tenor. And although people do non-traditional casting and all, Superstar has a lot of significance when you do that so, a woman as Judas – what does that way about women? Is it a parallel to Eve? And so on.

The other is Jenny in Threepenny Opera – another of my all time favorite shows. Jenny is a wonderfully rounded character. And assuming the translation you’ve doing gives you “Pirate Jenny”, you’ve got a bunch of great songs to sing.

And the third, it would have to be Adelaide from Guys and Dolls. Love her, love her songs. Achoo!

Great question!

But…can I pick more than 3 roles???

I’d love to play ANYONE in Wicked: mostly Elphaba, Galinda or Fiyero.

I’d also like to play a part in Les Mis as Fantine, Cosette, Eponine or even Jean Valjean.

It would be fun to play either Mimi or Maureen from RENT (although I love the songs that Roger gets to sing).

And this one is a bit more obscure, but I think it would be fun to play Lady of the Lake in Spamalot.

I could keep going…but I’m going to stop myself…

I'd like to play

Angel. Great songs, great character, and lots of time to chill backstage in the second act.

Mimi would be great fun too but I couldn’t do Over the Moon night after night.
