Worth visiting!

Why I want to go to this place

Hey, remember that really cool vortex house that used to be on Montrose not too long ago?

Well, it’s gone now, but a coffee shop sprung up in its place and despite having been around less than a year, it won Best New Coffee Shop in the Houston Press’ Best of Houston 2007.

From the Press: Inversion has all the pleasantries of Starbucks…as well as its own flair. It shares space with Art League Houston, and owner Michael Terrazas welcomes local artists on his walls.

However...

I miss the vortex house. It was one of those quirky things that keeps Houston and Montrose interesting. Otherwise, the place is going to become too upscale and yuppified. In other words—generic and boring.

Yeah, I miss it, too. :[

Art League was responsible for both the project and its fleeting existence. The two houses had to be demolished to make room for the coffee house/art school but instead of just tearing them down they decided to make a temporary installation out of them.

There’s a little artists statement of sorts in the coffee house right above the couch, kind of by the bathrooms that explains it better than I can, but it was part of the message behind the art. Well, so they say anyway.
