When I was able to tear my eyes away from looking... by Ursula Haigh

at all the unique as well as bizarre artwork that adorns this architectural wonder, I noticed that the garden was a showstopper as well!! A carving above the balcony on the side of the house indicates the year 1906 but the artwoks appears to have been added at a later date. i liked the Griffins along the roofline and arrows to keep the birds at bay!

That looks like a fun place to visit, even if just looking at it from the outside. There’s several Victorian houses and buildings in the city I live in and they stand out because they don’t look like the usual suburban homes that are being built nowadays…

I like homes that ..

have a uniqueness to them. That’s why I could never live in a new home!Even the “craftsmen” homes that a being built nowdays are too cookie cutter for me.

A lot of homes are being built like that now in those new home community tracts. All of the homes look the same…Whenever I drive through neighborhoods like that in places like Eastlake and Irvine, it reminds me of the community described in Lois Lowry’s The Giver.

I bought her book Number the Stars years ago for my daughter & I read it as well. Looks like this is another good read from an acclaimed writer!
