I lucked into 2 free box seat tickets for Neil Diamond last night at the Key Arena. I took Ivan along for the ride. Enjoyed it much more than I would have imagined. What a great performer! There were moments of intimate brilliance for such a large arena—although having it packed with fans who sing along to most songs really helps the Key Arena come to life. I can imagine that many concerts fail in this venue as it’s so big (seats 14,000 people, I think).

But when the video feed turned to a seagull flying over beach landscapes I had to hold back a bit. All-in-all it was a unexpected pleasure to see Mr. Diamond in concert. And Ivan got his first taste of a big production concert in America.
