i grew up in the suburbs of Detroit, and in fact was born the same year that the Big Tire was created, 1964.

there are no longer any Ferris wheel seats or mechanisms on the tire. It WAS a Ferris wheel at the New York City World’s Fair in 1964-65. after the fair, the Ferris wheel seats and mechanism was removed and the tire relocated to where it presently stands, in the Detroit suburb of Allen Park alongside highway 94.
