That was 10 years ago, so I can’t remember cost. We kept it as low as possible…. plane fare to Rome, stayed in Rome a couple days before taking the train to Florence. Stayed in a nice pensione (kinda like a budget hotel/b&b) for nearly a week before heading back to Rome. But a wonderful experience, and I would highly recommend it!! If you are a student, maybe you can see if you can take part in a Study Abroad/Exchange program.
