We went there on our honeymoon in July-August 2007 and enjoyed every moment of it. My husband was happy that Japan wasn’t all rice and sushi, both foods he is not at all fond of.
Japan is not as expensive as people may believe. Good accommodation is easy to come by and for reasonable prices; food is cheap; Japan Rail Pass is highly recommended if you plan to travel around the country and wish to save money on train journeys; vending machines selling beverages are all over the place, so if you’re thirsty just go up to one and choose your drink.
The people in Japan are so friendly and even if they do not speak good English, they are more than willing to help you out.
