Worth visiting!

What I want to do at this place

I cannot believe we are less than two weeks away! Hotels, Norway in a Nutshell, flights are all booked, and my passport arrived a week or so ago (whew!). So far, this is what we have planned:

Oslo (1-1/2 days): Frognerparken (Vigeland statues), Karl Johan Gate, Aker Bryyge, the Nat’l Museum
Norway in a Nutshell to Bergen
Bergen (1 day): ?? see Bryygen, but I don’t know what else (suggestions?)
Cruise to Stavanger
Stavanger (~2 days): ??maybe check out Pulpit Rock and get in some sweet hiking.
Flight back to Oslo for one last night in town before we fly back to the States.

If anyone has any must-see places or must-do things-to-do, I am all ears! I trust my Northern European 43Thingers!

Hehe

Well, the lovely members of the Curlychaos poodle choir are sure they will be famous some day and have a place named after them, so it might just be a place at some point. ;)

i'm intrigued...

sorry… Stine is here she is the mistress of the two poodles who constitute Curlychaos

no worries

funny thing is, stine had just replied to my ‘what i’m going to do when i’m in this place’ comment shortly before you did (or shortly thereafter, one or the other :^/)

on a side note: i grew up in fairfax, va, pretty much all of my family is in the metro area and i love phish (i saw the pic of trey in your photos). small world, i suppose.

Curlychaos?!

that sounds like MY kinda town!

Very cool, Em…you have to come back and tell us all about it!

I daydream that the next big trip we take will be Scandinavian. However, for now, we have a senior dog and no sitter and we’d never board him…those places are dangerous (disease wise) and he’d not eat or even move the whole time we were gone…he’d for sure die.

aww, poor puppy

we have to leave kitty behind, this is the longest he’ll have gone without us home. we’ve got a good sitter lined-up, but i know he’s going to be so upset at us when we get back. it’s the one thing that really tugs at me whenever we go anywhere.

Me too

When my mom was alive, she’d take care of him (and vice versa!) and so we never had a problem going off to Europe or Hawaii for several weeks/a month.

Now, since it’s just us, we only go if we can road trip and take him with us.

We discovered that La Quinta hotel chain welcomes pets (up to 50 pounds, but no one ever put him on a scale) and he’s very well-behaved in the room.

except for that time he slept on his very own queen sized bed, and managed to get under the covers…we laughed. Like he was trying to be human for one night.

thank you!!

i can’t believe it’s practically here. we’ve talked about taking this trip for over 2 years. man, we are going to be so broke when it’s all said and done, but it is going to be sooo worth it. i will definitely take lots of photos to share with you!

I would definitely

go see the viking ships in Oslo. They really are amazing, so worth seeing!
I hope you`ll have a great time here! :)

will do!

i did go back and add that to my yahoo! travel trip plan after i wrote this entry. thanks for the tip!

Oh and

I don`t know much about Bewrgen, I`ve only been there a couple of times, but Fløibanen is nice. It`s an electrically powered funicular (if that tells you anything, I just looked up the english explanation of what it would be called) that goes up a mountain. Nice view!

i will definitely check it out

it sure does! i know exactly what a funicular is (o.k., well, maybe not exactly, but I get the drift). we have them here in the u.s. in pittsburgh, pennsylvania.
