I’m not a spiritual kind of guy but rounding the curve and seeing Machu Picchu after 4 days on the Inca Trail was a high point. It is a great place – highly recommended.

The trail is hard but doable. You need to be able to handle high altitude (acclimate!) and lots of steps (up and down).
