Worth visiting!

The first time I went to this place

I just got back. Spent 6 days here. Can’t say that I did much or seen much of anything. But a beautiful state with so much green space! My friend’s backyard over looked a corn field! I must admit that I was kind of scared at night time sitting on the patio…thinking of horror movies like ‘Children of The Corn!’ I suppose for a city girl like me hearing the crickets and other unidentifiable noises would also drive me to tense up!

Your comment about Children of the Corn reminded me of a picture on flickr.

Corn

Hey, I would be glad if she came out of the fields! She looks like she could definitely kick some major ass! ( I just hope it wouldn’t be mine!) She is beautiful!

Gotta Watch Them Danged Crickets...

It is funny what you said about the crickets and other noises making you tense up. I’ll bet you’re the kind of person who can sleep through sirens and heavy traffic going past your window, right?

lmao!

Sigh…you can so tell that I am from the city, eh? Lol! To me the heavy traffic and sirens are a part of everyday life. Although I used to live on a busier street downtown, where I live now is much quieter. I can see maybe a slight sprinkling of stars on a clear night if I am lucky. I stayed in a subdivision that had no streetlights. I could just about reach up and pull a star down for you! The diamonds in the sky were absolutely beautiful! My only regret is not having a camera. I even left my phone at home in Canada. I will never travel again and make that same mistake. besides cameras are quite cheap these days! But back to the sires and traffic…they were like background noise to me! I had a fan going on in my room so that served as my ‘filter’ to drown out the nature noise from the backyard! I seriously thought that it would be a nice place to live…not work…but live. Till I saw the movie ‘Sicko’ last night. Canada is great!

I’m from the city, too. I remember at girl scout camp, an armadillo going by the tent at night sounded so loud and threatening, but my daughter and I used to live in a neighborhood where we would regularly hear what sounded like gunfire and think nothing of it. But then, we live in Texas—the Lone-Star mecca of the NRA. Holsters aren’t fashion accessories here; they are considered tool belts.

Sigh...

We are just a couple of city slickers aren’t we? I think if I visited Texas and saw people with those holsters I would be scared. When I was in Kentucky my friend Ben had a magazine about knives and I thought that was kind of strange. His friend who came back from Alaska brought him a knife!!!!!! If my friend went to Alaska and brought me a knife I would be like…”What the????” We are neighbours and yet I feel so much different. We are starting to get a lot of guns on the streets here now and we don’t like it. Ben’s mom told me that during the fall there are hunters with rifles and BOW AND ARROWS in the corn fields out back hunting deer. Now THAT is definitely too close for comfort!

My dad always had to adhere to the rule that when the streetlights came on, he was expected to come inside.
