Worth visiting!

Folk art at its finest...

This place was built by Jeff Davis McKissack, a Houston postal worker. From the late 1950’s to 1979, he used found objects to create a space imbued with his love of oranges and his belief in wholesome living. It’s over 3,000 square feet, all outdoors – no air conditioning, sorry – and has all kinds of cool stuff on the premises.

What kind of cool stuff? Well, I won’t spoil it. You should go explore it on your own. But I will say that my favorite thing is the wishing well, which I used to make several childhood wishes.

Also, in the gift shop, you can find How to Live 100 Years and Still Be Spry for only $1, written by McKissack himself.
