Worth visiting!

A review of this place

Alhama de Granada is in Andalucia, roughly half way between Malaga and Granada (about 45 mins drive from Granada and an hour from Malaga). It is a great little mountain town perched on the edge of a spectacular gorge. It is famous for it’s thermal springs “The baths of Granada” – I believe Haman is arabic for baths. The town has a number of good B&B’s – we have stayed a couple of times at Hospederia Casasola, which is a friendly B&B, inexpensive and very good. There seems to be quite a few actvitiy holidays based around the town, including hiking, cycling, photography and quad biking. There are a number of lovely squares and no shortage of bars serving fantastic tapas. We particularly like Ochoa, just off the main square, Plaza Constitucion. 10 kms drive from town is the spectacular lake called Bermajales, it has sandy beaches and I’m told is a good place for a swim in summer. Walking distance (45 mins) up the gorge is another smaller lake, I don’t think swimming is recommended here, but there is a restaurant with a pool: “The Crazy Duck” (Pato Loco – I think).
