I went here in 2006 with my sister and her flatmate for 4 days and it was GORGEOUS! We stayed at the Aseana Resort which was excellent value for money. The food was just okay but the staff was exceptionally friendly ~ special mention out to Juice who not only made our stay brilliant but even took time out to take us on a bike ride around the tiny island. The place itself is beautiful with white sand beaches and crystal clear calm blue waters. There’s a few fish and things to see while snorkeling close to the shore although if you want to see live coral you might have to ask around for the best places which is most likely further out. Overall, Pulau Besar is just a really good place to chill out and relax where you have big mountains as a back drop and sandy beaches just a few steps from your cabana :)
There’s a small shop selling odds and ends next door to the resort so no worries if you forgot to bring something. There is also another resort called De Coconut I believe just a short walk away and has a nice bar if you’re looking for a change of scenery.
